New blog re Sao Tome

Ursula and I have been travelling through southern Africa since mid-April 2026: the journey began in Cape Town, South Africa, and took us to Namibia and Angola. From there, we flew to the island of São Tomé and Príncipe for 12 days in August / September. We then returned to Namibia, from where Ursula flew back to Austria for a short break from the exhausting journey.

Over the past few weeks, I spent five days in the Kalahari Desert with two Bushmen and a South African survival specialist, trying to survive – or rather, ‘live’ – in the Bushmen’s way – an interesting experience - a special blog on this adventure is under preparation.

At the moment, I’m in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park (South Africa/Botswana), from where I’ll be travelling on to Johannesburg. On 17–18 October, Ursula is flying to Johannesburg and we’ll be travelling together to Kruger National Park.

Award-winning Film about Paragliding

In the summer, I made a film on the topic of “Paragliding Oldies – Paragliding as the Ideal Sport for Seniors.” The video won first place in the Austrian AERO Club's 2025 film competition.

The 23-minute film is not about “higher, further, faster” but about the fascination of paragliding and flying in old age. The film makes you want to fly and emphasizes that you can practice this sport into old age. You can watch the film on YouTube at the following link:

Neuer Blog über Sao Tome

Seit Mitte April 2026 fahren Ursula und ich durch das südliche Afrika: Die Reise begann in Kapstadt, Südafrika und führte uns nach Namibia, und Angola. Von dort flogen wir im August für 12 Tage auf die Insel São Tomé und Príncipe. Anschließend kehrten wir nach Namibia zurück von wo aus Ursula für eine kleine Verschnaufpause zurück nach Österreich flog.

In den vergangen Wochen war ich mit zwei Buschmännern und einem südafrikanischen Survival Spezialisten fünf Tage in der Kalahari Wüste und versuchte dort nach Buschmann Art zu (über)leben - eine interessante Erfahrung.

Momentan bin ich im Kgalagadi Transfrontier Nationalpark (Südafrika / Botswana), von wo aus ich nach Johannesburg weiterfahren werde. 17./18. Oktober fliegt Ursula nach Johannesburg und wir werden gemeinsam in den Kruger Nationalpark fahren.

Preisgekrönter Film über das Paragleiten

Ich habe im Sommer einen Film zum Thema „Paragleit-Oldies – Gleitschirmfliegen als idealer Seniorensport “ gedreht. Das Video erzielte beim 2025 Filmwettbewerb des österreichischen AERO-Clubs den ersten Platz. Der 23-minütige Film handelt nicht vom „Höher, Weiter, Schneller“ sondern von der Faszination des Paragleitens und dem Fliegen im Alter. Der Film macht Lust aufs Fliegen und unterstreicht, dass man diesen Sport bis ins höhere Alter ausüben kann. Sie können den Film unter folgendem Link auf YouTube ansehen:
