We reached the south of Namibia

Over the next thre years Ursula and I will drive from South Africa to Austria in three sections taking the route via East Africa. We call our journey Cape to Cairo.

I started in mid-April in Cape Town / South Africa and picked up Ursula on 24 May in Kimberly / South Africa. We first spent some days in the Augrabis Waterfall National Park and the Richtersfeld National Park. Beginning of June we crossed into Namibia and visited the famouse Fish River Canyon. Currently we are in the old Diamond Mining City of Luderitz, in southern Namibia. During the next two months we plan to through Namibia and then to continue to Angola.

Award-winning Film about Paragliding

In the summer, I made a film on the topic of “Paragliding Oldies – Paragliding as the Ideal Sport for Seniors.” The video won first place in the Austrian AERO Club's 2025 film competition.

The 23-minute film is not about “higher, further, faster” but about the fascination of paragliding and flying in old age. The film makes you want to fly and emphasizes that you can practice this sport into old age. You can watch the film on YouTube at the following link:

Wir sind im Süden von Namibia

In den nächsten drei Jahren wollen Ursula und ich in drei Abschnitten von Südafrika aus über Ostafrika nach Österreich fahren. Wir nennen die Strecke Cape to Cairo.

Ich bin Mitte April von Kapstadt / Südafrika losgefahren und habe Ursula am 24. Mai in Kimberly / Südafrika abgeholt. Nach dem wir einige Tage im Augrabis Wasserfall Nationalpark und dem Richtersfeld Nationalpark verbrachten reisten wir Anfang Juni in Namibia ein, wo wir den Fish River Canyon Nationalpark besuchten. Derzeit sind wir in der alten Diamanten-Minen Stadt Lüderitz. Während der nächsten Monate wollen wir durch Namibia fahren und dann weiter nach Angola reisen.

Preisgekrönter Film über das Paragleiten

Ich habe im Sommer einen Film zum Thema „Paragleit-Oldies – Gleitschirmfliegen als idealer Seniorensport “ gedreht. Das Video erzielte beim 2025 Filmwettbewerb des österreichischen AERO-Clubs den ersten Platz. Der 23-minütige Film handelt nicht vom „Höher, Weiter, Schneller“ sondern von der Faszination des Paragleitens und dem Fliegen im Alter. Der Film macht Lust aufs Fliegen und unterstreicht, dass man diesen Sport bis ins höhere Alter ausüben kann. Sie können den Film unter folgendem Link auf YouTube ansehen:
